“This Land Was Ravaged” tells the story of Twyford Down - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just outside Winchester which was destroyed by the department for transport in the early-mid 1990s to link sections of the M3 between London and Southampton. There were major environmental protests at the time, which were unsuccessful in preventing the motorway being built, but had a positive impact on future road building schemes.
